Time Management For Stress Relief
Good time management techniques can help you schedule time for relaxation!
Time management is the method of using techniques and tools made for scheduling time and planning daily activities in the most effective way to generate the maximum value for every moment spent. Its main goal is to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of corporate time that affects each person. Time management techniques can also help you in your private life. Controlling time will reduce stress by helping you determine what you do and when you do it thereby reducing the stress associated with managing activities.
You cannot rely on your memory alone to keep track of all the things you have to do. This is what causes your mind to become overloaded which is a major source of anxiety and stress. When your schedule is out of control, it definitely contributes to stress and banish relaxation.
Importance of a Task List
A task list is the rundown of things that must be completed. These are steps or chores that attribute to the completion of a project. It's like an inventory tool serving as an alternative to "mental notes" of remembering what must be done. Task lists are often used in business management, software development, project management and self-management. There are software applications that can be downloaded to help you prioritize task lists.
It is very easy to forget something important, that's why it is good to have a task list. It is much easier to plan and prioritize when things are written down. Make sure you check the item on the list the very minute it has been completed.
Time Management Strategies
• Set Goals. The most important thing you can do to manage time is to set goals: daily, weekly, monthly, yearly and long-range. You need to have a clear sense of where you are headed or you will not be able to plan how to get there. Your use of time should be organized to maximize the chances of achieving your goals.
• Create a weekly schedule or To-Do List. Plan this at the beginning of each week and define your goals for each day of the week. This will help increase your productivity and balance out your tasks. Whether the tasks are done daily or weekly, you must do this at the time and day you have indicated on your schedule and stick to it.
• Prioritize your list. This helps you focus and spend more time on the tasks that are more important and less time on the ones that are not as important. Rate your tasks into categories and do what must be done first. You must have a time for everything and focus on only doing that task.
• Set blocks of time for each task. This helps keeps you on track with progress. Without any time limits, you risk procrastination . Look at the clock and tell yourself that you will do this for this number of minutes and only this. Try to fight whatever distraction in front of you in order for you to achieve this.
• Have "relaxation time". You should take time off to relax and enjoy yourself so that you will feel re-energized and rejuvenated. You will find that you use your time more wisely while you are at work.
